Description

Integrated Math I is the first course of a three course sequence for high school math that may also lead to preparation for Calculus. This course satisfies the new California Common Core Standards for Integrated Math 1, which builds and strengthens students’ conceptual knowledge of functions, linear functions, equations, inequalities, sequences, basic exponential functions, systems of linear equations, systems of linear inequalities, quadratic functions, one variable descriptive statistics, correlation and residuals, analyzing categorical data, mathematical modeling, and both coordinate and transformational geometries. Students will develop their ability to think mathematically and develop their conceptual understanding of mathematics and procedural fluency in mathematics. Students in this course will learn to use mathematical models to understand real world events and situations, and use algebraic reasoning to manipulate these models for deeper learning as well as be able to justify and defend their thinking.

Transformation Posters
You will be creating a poster for each transformation we worked on in class. Each poster will need to be on a blank (or colored) sheet of paper and include the following:
  • Title (Rotations, Reflections, Dilations, Translations)
  • A visual/drawing of the graph of each type of transformation including the before and after translation graphs with labeled points
  • The rule that applies to each transformation

Rotation Rules: 90 degree rotation, 180 degree rotation, and 270 degree rotation
Reflection Rules: reflection across the x-axis, reflection across the y-axis
Dilation Rules: when multiplied by scale factor >1, when multiplied by scale factor <1
Translation Rules: translating to the right/left, translating up/down

Each poster should be visually pleasing and depict the rules clearly.
