Take Cornell-style notes

Use your ID terms, your maps, timelines reading notes and class notes.

Sit with your group members (4 per group) and read the directions.

Divide terms evenly with your members and complete your assigned terms on a shared group doc. 

Only one person (the doc owner) needs to submit the completed doc for the group and leave me a private comment naming your group members.

On the day of our test, I will pull out 5 terms randomly so you should study and know them all.

Remember to include your cues and summary!

Read 14.2 and the rest of 14.4 (pgs 548-551) and take cornell-style notes. 

Include questions or notable Atlantic Theater dates as a part of your CUES (hint have your timeline out).

It should be colorful, thorough and unique to your understanding. Bring your completed one-pager to class.

Take handwritten notes on the following and bring them to class for a discussion:
Where was it delivered? Who was there?
Who was the "designated survivor"?
What were the issues of focus for the President?
What actions did he propose to address these issues?
Be ready to discuss and share: What do you think is the most important issue our country is facing this year? Choose one topic from the State of the Union Address and consider possible solutions you might propose.

BONUS: Watch the Democratic response and take notes on who delivered the response and what was their actions proposed for the same issues the President addressed?

This must be completed before class. Arrive with your handwritten notes on the following:
Walter Duranty (NY Times): Look up his 1933 article "Russians Hungry, But Not Starving." Note his "Omelet" quote.
Gareth Jones (Independent): Look up his March 1933 press release from Berlin. Note his descriptions of what he saw in the villages.
The Blacklist: Research how the Soviet government used the Internal Passport system and the Law of 5 Ears of Wheat to ensure no one could escape the areas Jones was trying to report on.
Briefly research Walter Duranty and his Pulitzer Prize he won for his reporting in the USSR. 
Briefly research the suspicious circumstances of Gareth Jones’s death in Mongolia in 1935. Who was he with?

This will be a closed note RQ but you should still take notes as you read

One member (the doc owner) needs to upload your group's doc with a completed opening statement, and notes or talking points for the debate of each issue.

Remember, we will start our process for the Paris Peace Conference next class

You will SUBMIT IN PERSON and mark as done -- you should have all the planning done by Friday
You will have about 60 minutes on Friday to work on your poster and write-up.

You can work as an individual or with a partner.
