Other things to consider:
How creative is your title?

Eliminate contractions and class specific shorthand.

Consider arrangement. Where is your thesis? Is there a degree of nuance built into the thesis? What should be the focus of each body paragraph? Do you have a really good reason to limit each paragraph to a single text if you're doing the BILB paper?

Can you add interesting adjectives to describe the various relationships? Are you really proving your claims about the various relationships?

Read the attached student essays. How would they score on the rubric?

Summer Reading Writing

Choose one prompt. Answer it with at least 300 words and two pieces of evidence. Your evidence may be quotes or very specific paraphrases. The first two questions are worth 50/50 points. Option three has a starting value of 40/50.

Prompt one: Did the school make a good choice to not make students read this book during the summer of 2020?

Prompt two: Identify one message about positivity and/or preparedness that is present in the book.

Prompt three: Summer vacation is an extended break from the school routine of early mornings, tests, and homework. Summertime provides opportunities to get a part-time job, relax at home, enroll in summer programs, and/or travel. Based on your experiences and observations, what is the best way for teenagers to spend their summer vacation?

Whichever you choose, Write a well-developed paragraph that supports your position. Include a topic sentence (opinion statement), specific reasons backed by evidence (experiences and observations), and elaboration (commentary).

Then choose two more words to define from the article on your own. After defining the five words, read the whole article. Be ready to discuss it in class on Monday.

I’m sorry I can’t be there today!

Please turn in the 3 square homework from last night right away.

We will get back to talking about sleeping, eating, and breathing when I return. Please continue to pay attention to the amount of sleep you get each night.

During class today, please read the attached essay by Temple Grandin AND the Jackie Robinson essay that’s listed as a material just under this question in the Classwork tab.

Then, do a full page free write by hand. This should be done on loose leaf paper. The only requirements are that you start with the words “this I believe” and that you fill the entire page. If you need to talk about multiple things you believe to fill the space, that’s fine. It is due today. Please do the best you can and be sure to leave whatever you get done with the sub.

If you finish, you may do work for other classes.
