SPUSD Middle and High School Students and Staff Learn Sidewalk CPR

On Monday and Tuesday, May 18-19, 2026, nearly 100 students and staff at South Pasadena Middle and High Schools flocked to the gym at each school to participate in Sidewalk CPR instruction.

The South Pasadena Fire Department, in conjunction with Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services, provided the free Sidewalk CPR instruction to teach lifesaving skills. Students and staff learned the three steps before performing CPR chest compressions, including checking the scene for safety, calling 911, and tapping the patient to check for breathing. They also practiced how to administer chest compressions effectively.

Many thanks to the South Pasadena Fire Department and District Nurse Abby Silver, who coordinated the events.
