Two South Pasadena High School students have earned Gold and Silver medals at the national level of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. Kudos to sophomore Ellis Kim, who won a Gold award for poetry, and Sofiia Zabrodska, who won a Silver award for photography.
Fourteen students earned Gold Key awards at the regional level that automatically advanced them to national judging. National medalists receive certificates and medals and are considered for national exhibition, publication, and scholarship opportunities.
At the regional level, SPHS students earned an amazing 108 awards. SPHS regional winners earning Honorable Mention, Silver Key, and Gold Key Awards are listed here. Works are judged on originality, technical skill, and emergence of personal vision or voice.
Congratulations to all the student winners and their supervising teachers: Rouzanna Berberian, Jennifer Cutler, Denise Gill, Karen Hames, Aimee Levie-Hultman, and Diane Shires.
