SPUSD Students Enjoy National Popcorn Day

SPUSD Food & Nutrition recognized National Popcorn Day on Friday, January 16, by offering a free bag of popcorn to students at all three elementary schools, the middle school, and the high school–resulting in more than 3,000 bags of popcorn being served. Cafeteria staff, with special visits from Food & Nutrition Director Jenifer Smith and Superintendent Angela Elizondo Baxter, offered students who receive school lunch a chance to sample the sweet and salty treat. Corny questions such as “Where does popcorn come from?” kept students engaged and learning. Students also liked sharing about their favorite places to enjoy popcorn. Happy National Popcorn Day!
