Three SPHS SkillsUSA Students Earn National Statesman Awards

Congratulations to Eliot Kwon, Pei-Chen Ng, and Colette Tam, who each earned a SkillsUSA National Statesman Award during the organization's Washington Leadership Training Institute held September 20-24, 2025, in Washington D.C. The National Statesman Award is given to students who demonstrate strong SkillsUSA knowledge, civic awareness, and the ability to articulate their career and technical education (CTE) experiences.

To be eligible for the award, students complete coursework and certifications before attending the training institute. While in-person, they engage in a variety of sessions, trainings, and panels before culminating with a personal interview in which students describe their CTE program and how it has prepared them for the future and discuss their personal career goals. Students representing nearly 30 states earned the award this year.

Go, Tigers!
