South Pasadena High School Proudly Recognizes 2026 National Merit Semifinalists

On September 10, 2025, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the semifinalists in the 71st annual National Merit Scholarship Program. SPHS semifinalists join more than 16,000 qualifying students nationwide and represent less than one percent of U.S high school seniors nationally competing for some 6,930 scholarships. Semifinalists qualify by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and earning among the highest scores in the state.

Congratulations to Mason Asakura, Alexa Chang, Elizabeth Chung, Sarah Kano, Anna Kowal, Solana Singer, Gihan Van Kerkhove, and Rose Vandevelde. These exceptional SPHS seniors now have the opportunity to compete for National Merit scholarships, which will be announced in Spring 2026.

Go, Tigers!
