SPHS Athlete Recovery Day Offers Care for Students and Staff

It wasn’t a typical late start day on either January 30 or 31, as SPHS Advanced Sports Medicine students transformed the practice gym into a rejuvenating TLC experience. With soothing music playing in the background and soft lighting, the Sports Medicine pros consulted their patients and then proceeded with a stretching regiment that was customized to patients’ needs.

The class invited student athletes and staff members to sign up for the sessions that included stretching, physical therapy, and percussive massage. They offered 30-minute appointments during both late start days this week. Staff and students alike left with glowing smiles after experiencing a little extra care to start their days. CTE Advanced Sports Medicine Teacher Andre Zumaeta oversaw the planning and assisted students with the activities.
