SPHS Hosts Orientations for Students Returning to In-person Instruction

On Friday, April 9, 2021, South Pasadena High School threw open the gates to welcome its first group of students for an orientation to in-person, hybrid instruction.

After more than a year in distance learning, Principal Janet Anderson, alongside Assistant Principals Janet Wichman and David Speck, welcomed seniors with open arms to the SPHS campus which officially reopens for in-person learning next week. Students picked up a pair of celebratory SPHS sweatpants, learned about the new safety guidelines and protocols for on-campus instruction, and participated in games and socially-distanced activities on the Tiger Patio. Students from the Varsity Virtual Enterprise team helped with the welcome by giving attendees a complimentary “Pebbly” - the group’s signature product, which is a spin on Gary Dahl’s classic pet rock.

Additional SPHS orientations will be held for freshmen on Monday, April 12, sophomores on Tuesday, April 13 and juniors on Wednesday, April 14. Students will receive email notifications with the timing. The first day of in-person, hybrid instruction will be on Thursday, April 15, for Cohort B. For the full, hybrid schedule, click here.
