SPHS Sophomore Selected as Winner in J. Paul Getty Museum Artwork Competition

Congratulations to SPHS sophomore Abigail Choi on being selected as one of 34 winners, ages 13-19, in a joint open call for photography sponsored by the nonprofit design lab Amplifier and the J. Paul Getty Museum.

The competition, titled “In Pursuit of ____” selected outstanding student artwork from more than 1,500 submissions nationwide. The winning artworks were displayed as large-scale projections in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington D.C., and Anchorage and were shared by both organizations' social media channels.

Hailing from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, the open call winners thoughtfully addressed themes of social tolerance, access to education, climate change, immigration, and endurance in the face of COVID-19.

Congratulations again to Abigail Choi and her SPHS Photography teacher Rouzanna Berberian on this impressive accomplishment. Go Tigers!
