AP BIOLOGY REVIEW CALENDAR

Hi All,
 
I have posted a calendar for the remaining push leading up to the May 13th exam. Some of these dates may need to get shifted around as we get closer. Any adjustments would be announced in my posts.

Big Idea 3 Review Sessions

Monday 3/18: 3-4 PM
Tuesday 3/19: 3-4 PM
Thursday 3/21: 3-4 PM

Big Idea 3 Assessment Plan-SurveyMonkey

Hi All!
 
In an effort to manage the stress from the deluge of exams I anticipate occurring right before or after spring break, I would like to collect your input on how you want to be assessed on the remainder of Big Idea 3. Regardless of which plan you choose, we will be performing a lab for the final two class periods before spring break to reduce homework/study load. The question really becomes would you rather push hard reviewing next week and then have a true break or leisurely review over your break? Your options are as follows:
 
Plan A: 
  • Take ~15 Point 3rd Big Idea 3 Summative Quiz (Meiosis, Mendelian, Non-Mendelian) March 22nd (ODD), March 25th (EVEN)
  • Take ~45 Point Big Idea 3 Exam April 10th (ODD), April 11th (EVEN)
 
Plan B:
  • No 3rd Big Idea 3 Quiz
  • Take ~50 Point Big Idea 3 Exam March 22nd (ODD), March 25th (EVEN)
  • ~10 Points shifted either into a lab quiz or into Big Idea 4
 
Things to Consider:
  • There will not be less points into the gradebook. I will just shift them into other topics.
  • Big Idea 4 is small and mostly a review of topics already learned. It's about applying old knowledge to the human body and to the environment.
  • If you choose to take the exam after spring break, it will include material from the lab performed before the break. If you take it before, it will not include the lab material. This will be tested either in a small quiz or on your final.
  • If you eliminate the 3rd summative, the exam will emphasize topics most recently covered (Meiosis, Mendel, Non-Mendelian) and sprinkle in old topics.
 

2019 AP Exam Registration Info and Form

Hello All!
 
Friendly reminder that early bird AP exam registration begins February 1st and ends February 8th. Absolute deadline to request fee waiver (for eligible students) from Ms. Wong is February 22. However, this should be done far in advance. See attachment for registration form.

Error in Dates

Hi 6th Period!
 
I had mistakenly put tomorrow as the due date for your lab packet and translation quiz. Please disregard. I hope that you did not panic and study a lecture we haven't finished or make up any false lab results. Those were meant to be your assignments for Monday.

Review Session Updated Times/Dates

Hi All!
 
I need to switch around a couple of review session times:
 
The lunch review originally scheduled for 12/6 will be lunch on 12/7. 
 
The after school review originally schedule for 12/7 will actually be during 7th. Come join that period at 2 PM if you are free.
