Read  the poem "Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" . The first 4 questions should be typed up, the remaining responses should be marked on the poem itself.
1. Define existentialism
2. Why would T.S. Eliot start the poem with a cant from The Inferno?
3. Why, specifically, is  "a dead spirit" speak to a p"presumably" dead Prufrock? in the canto?
4. What do the first few stanzas reveal about Prufrock's character?
5. Identify the use of language devices i.e. alliteration, assonance, repetition, hyperbole, parallel structure, allusion, metaphor in the poem. Mark at least one example of each. Be able to explain the poet's purpose in using these language devices.
