Due:
Assignment
Complete handouts. Study for Unit 6.1-6.3 Quiz on Friday. Two out of the ten problems will be on angular/linear velocity.
Do 6.1 #84.
Angular speed of pedal sprocket =(40 revolutions/min)(2 pi radians/rev)= 80 pi rev/min
angular speed of wheel sprocket = angular speed of pedal sprocket times two = 160 pi rev/ min
Since the pedal sprocket is twice as big as the wheel sprocket, one full revolution on the small wheel is only half a revolution on the big wheel. The smaller wheel is moving twice as fast because it's smaller. However the linear velocity of the pedal sprocket equals the linear velocity of the wheel sprocket because they share the same chain.

Complete handouts. Study for Unit 6.1-6.3 Quiz on Friday. Two out of the ten problems will be on angular/linear velocity.
Due:
Assignment
Study for 6.1-6.3 Quiz on Friday. Complete handouts. Study angular and linear velocity, like 6.1 #84.
When the two wheels are connected in a chain, the linear velocity of the brake sprocket equals the linear velocity of the wheel sprocket. Remember velocity measures the outside of the circle (circumference) times the number of revolutions over time.
v=wr
w=v/r
