AP Physics Project in Google Classroom

AP Physics Project

Pair up with one other student and chose a
physics topic of interest. Research the topic and select a concept that can be
presented in a 5 minute live demonstration to the class using physics equipment
or technology (no recorded videos). The topic and concept can be one you
learned in this class. The demonstration must be one that you have not seen in
this class. The presentation must include visuals like a power point or google
slide presentation. But presenting the concept with just slides will result in
a lower grade (see rubric below). The project should help future students
taking AP or regular Physics understand a concept using a demonstration I have
not shown you. You can choose a topic that was not studied in class even if
it’s not part of the AP Physics 1 content.

In this problem you will be shown a curling stone that collides with another curling stone that was at rest before the collision. You will be shown the post collision velocity of the stone that was originally at rest. From this, you must find the post collision velocity (speed and direction) of the stone that was originally moving. These curling stones are not standard masses and each curling stone has its own unique mass.

Once you've calculated the post collision velocity (speed and direction) of the stone that was originally moving, click on the button that reads "END". Enter your first name and the data you calculated and click "Submit". You will get immediate feedback if your data are correct or close enough to be acceptable. If not, repeat the simulation with new conditions. You will need to upload a photo or screen shot stating your data are acceptable to this assignment as proof of your completed work.
