Select a Silent Reading Book you want to read- should be a book you have not read that you want to read that is at your reading level- grade level or above. I am attaching an AP recommended reading list if you choose to read an AP level book- this is not required - it only needs to be a book you genuinely want to read. You need to get a physical copy of the book and bring it in daily when we have class or you can use a kindle.

Read Things Fall Apart through ch. 5- continue with annotations - create a google doc- write one level two and one level 3 question using the Blooms Level Questions sheet- answer your own question as well- be prepared to share annotations and use questions in groups next time- expect a reading quiz - no need to submit here

Read Things Fall apart through Ch. 6- continue with annotations focused on the essay prompts- essay prompts are in Materials - continue identifying character traits for the characters in the packet, look at the oral elements log and add examples from the book so far, Review all vocab through ch. 8- be prepared to share one significant quote from your annotations in your reading groups

Read Things Fall Apart through Ch. 8- annotate the text, add four more level 2 and 3 questions for the reading through ch. 8- answer your own questions as well- you should have a total of 6 questions- print them out as you will be turning them in after Socratic Seminar on Monday - continue to add character traits and begin adding quotes that reveal the traits- just one quote per character to your characters list. Look at the Oral Elements Log- finish at least 5 total as you continue reading through the novel-

Complete the indirect and direct characterization sheet for Okonkwo- find two different traits for Okonkwo- look at the first page of the packet where we started writing out his traits. They should not be synonyms- find one quote that shows indirect characterization- things he says, actions he takes or what others say about him that shows the quote and quotes that the narrator says about him to show direct characterization.
