Answer all questions on the last two slides- you should have picked a meaningful issue that you truly care about - an issue of exigence that needs attention you will find at least two credible and relevant articles to read and annotate- might need more than 2- start with the school data bases and then make sure you are getting credible articles- you may print them out and annotate them that way or create a doc where you cut and paste each link- you write out the title of the articles, you cut and past meaningful quotes and then write out your thoughts- you will be doing a culminating piece of writing with this that will be part of your final. Pick something you care about. The articles should answer these questions in depth: Who - is impacted or should care about this issue What- is the issue and or what is currently being done to address it? What should be done? When- when did this begin why? Why- is this happening and why should be care about it? How- did this begin and how can we fix it?

Check that you have answered these questions in the articles you selected for your research and if you need more research- make sure you get it. Turn to page 17 in the packet- On Leaving- On Staying You will pick one of the forms of writing to do for your research topic Two poems- one page each in poetic form with poetic elements- must be written from two different points of view One article with evidence from your research- 650-1000 words in length- MLA formatting One narrative story- must be a narrative with all plot elements and narrative elements- not a summary For the poem assignment, look back at the two poems in the packet to see how the writer uses language and look at other poetic examples For the article, look at the articles you researched for possible structure etc...- you can also google Kelly Gallagher article of the week for some possible ideas For the narrative, look up narrative short stories to look for examples and look up plot graph for a story The entire complete draft is due in class today and we will peer edit- this is half of your final exam Look at the bottom of page 17 for how it will be scored
