Teachers from China Visit SPHS

On Thursday, December 13, 2018, SPHS hosted 22 middle and high school teachers from China’s Jiangsu province as part of SPUSD’s growing educational exchange program. SPHS Principal Janet Anderson, Chinese teacher Melissa Cheng, and school board President Jon Primuth answered numerous questions from the teachers about South Pasadena schools.

Principal Anderson specifically shared about how to address student anxiety in high-pressure academic environments. Afterward the group toured the SPHS campus and saw many athletic teams in action.  The education exchange organization, Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange (JESIE), brought the teacher delegation to SPHS.  In March 2019, JESIE will host 29 SPHS students on a culture and language immersion trip led by Melissa Cheng and Jon Primuth.
